Think of a time when you didn’t think you were capable of doing something , but then surprised yourself.  How will you surprise yourself this week?

A time I really surprised myself was when I got on a plane and traveled to a city where I didn’t know a soul and spent 3 days enjoying sporting events and meeting people.  I really surprised myself because it was a last-minute idea and I did it as a challenge to myself.

It started out as a trip to Las Vegas, but then I thought that would be boring.  I wanted to do something that I had never done before.  It happened to be spring training for baseball and out of curiosity I looked up a airfare and hotel accommodations for my favorite baseball team.  To my surprise, there was a package deal that even included transportation to the spring training events.  I had to do it!  And so I did.

I have to admit that I was a little scared to go somewhere I had never been before and not knowing anyone in the city was even a little more scary.  But I packed my bags and headed to the airport.

The trip was great, I met some really nice people, got some nice photos, and most of all got to see what my team might look like come opening day.  It was great to see the fellas out there getting used to each other, as this was a year of new acquisitions.  I’m so glad that I stepped out of my fearful place and went on this trip.  It opened up a whole new world for me.  From that point on, I haven’t had any hesitation making plans to travel alone.

This week I will take some necessary steps in my life and make some decisions that should have been made long ago.  This will require me to be brave, thoughtful, and honest with those involved.  I’m hoping for the best in each of these situations.
